Cruise Control Systems: Description
The cruise control system uses mechanical, electrical and vacuum operated devices to maintain selected vehicle speed above 30 MPH. The control unit also receives operating signals from brake switch, distributor, speed pulser and clutch switch (man. trans.) or shift position switch (auto. trans.).
The brake switch releases system control of throttle the moment the brake pedal is depressed. The clutch switch, shift position switch and cancel switch send a disengage signal to the control unit. The control unit releases control of the throttle when any of the switches are depressed.
