Alternator Brushes

Remove end cover and remove brush holder by removing 2 screws. Measure length of brushes using vernier calipers. See Fig 1. Check measurement against those in the ALTERNATOR BRUSH LENGTHS table. If brush lengths are not within specifications, replace brushes.

CAUTION: When replacing brushes, use only a rosin core type solder when soldering brushes. Joints will corrode if incorrect solder is used.
