Removal & Installation
WARNING:
Keep open flames away from work area.
CAUTION:
To avoid damaging hoses when disconnecting, slide back the clamps, then twist hoses as you pull. Clean the flared joint of high pressure hoses thoroughly before reconnecting them.
NOTE:
The tank may stick on the undercoat applied to its mount. To remove, carefully pry it off the mount.
Block front wheels and jack up rear end of car. Support with jackstands. Remove drain bolt and drain fuel into appropriate container. On Prelude, remove both maintenance access covers in luggage area. Disconnect the connectors from fuel gauge sending unit and fuel pump. On Civic, remove the two-way valve cover and fuel hose protector. Disconnect the hoses. Place a jack, or other support, under the tank. Remove the strap nuts and let the straps fall free. Remove the fuel tank. To install, reverse removal procedure using a new washer on the drain bolt.
