Key Interlock Solenoid
- Remove lower panel from steering column. Disconnect connector from main wiring harness, and note terminal identification. See Fig 1.
- Using ohmmeter, check continuity between indicated terminals with ignition lock assembly in ACC position. See KEY INTERLOCK SOLENOID CONTINUITY table.
- Replace ignition lock assembly if
continuity is not as specified. Key interlock solenoid cannot be serviced
separately.KEY INTERLOCK SOLENOID CONTINUITY
Ignition Key Position Continuity Between Terminals Key Installed "C", "E" & "F" Key Removed "E" & "F" - Connect battery voltage and ground to terminals "A" and "C'. Ensure ignition key cannot be removed with battery voltage applied.
- If ignition key cannot be removed, key interlock solenoid is okay. If ignition key can be removed, replace ignition lock assembly. Key interlock solenoid cannot be serviced separately.
