Modulator Solenoid Leak Test
NOTE:
If a solenoid leaks excessively, brake fluid level in modulator reservoir will rise when ABS pump motor is operated.
- Connect an ohmmeter between the terminals (both wires are Yellow) of pressure switch connector. Using a fully charged 12 volt battery, connect jumper wire from positive terminal to Red/White wire at motor connector. Using another jumper wire, connect negative terminal to Green wire at motor connector with a switch between jumper and connector. See Fig 1 .
- Turn switch on to allow pressure to build up in accumulator. Check for continuity at pressure switch terminals. If continuity exists, operate motor for 10 seconds more, then turn switch off. If continuity does not exist, check for open in Yellow wire(s). If wire(s) is good, replace pressure switch and repeat step 2).
- If Solenoid hisses or squeaks, solenoid is leaking and must be replaced. Wait for 30 minutes and recheck pressure switch continuity. If no continuity exists, solenoid is faulty and must be replaced.
