Set/Resume Switch

WARNING:
Deactivate air bag system before performing any service operation. See AIR BAG RESTRAINT SYSTEM
article. DO NOT apply electrical power to any component on steering column without first deactivating air bag system. Air bag may deploy.
NOTE:
On models with theft protection system, obtain radio security code from vehicle owner, before disconnecting battery cable.
- Disable air bag system. See AIR BAG RESTRAINT SYSTEM
article. Remove dashboard lower cover and knee bolster. Disconnect combination switch harness 20-pin connector, located beneath steering column. Using a DVOM, check for continuity between specified 20-pin connector terminals, with SET/RESUME switch in appropriate position. See Fig 1

Switch Position Continuity Between Terminals SET (On) 13 & 16 RESUME (On) 4 & 16 - If continuity does not exist as specified, replace SET/RESUME switch. If continuity exists, remove steering column covers. Disconnect combination switch 4-pin connector from cable reel. Using a DVOM, check for continuity between specified terminals of 20-pin and 4-pin connectors. See Fig 1 . If continuity does not exist, replace combination switch harness. If continuity exists, go to next step.
- Carefully remove SET/RESUME switch cover, by gently prying at switch cover in several locations. Remove retaining screws and SET/RESUME switch. See Fig 2 . Check continuity between specified Set/Resume switch terminals, with switch in appropriate position. See switch test table in illustration. If continuity is not as specified, replace switch.
