Hold-In Test
Using as heavy a wire as possible, connect positive battery terminal to solenoid "S" terminal. Connect negative battery terminal to armature housing (ground). Manually pull out drive pinion until it reaches its stop. If pinion does not snap back when released, hold-in coil is okay. If pinion snaps back, replace starter solenoid.
