Hazard Relay Input Test
- Remove hazard/turn signal relay from underdash fuse/relay box. See Figure . Inspect for poor terminal connections. Repair as necessary. If connector terminals are in good condition, perform the following tests with a DVOM. Refer to WIRING DIAGRAMS.
- Check for continuity to ground at terminal No. 4. If continuity does not exist, check for poor ground connection at G401 and G402, or repair open wire.
- Check for battery voltage at terminal No. 3. If battery voltage does not exist, inspect fuse No. 39 (10-amp) of underdash fuse/relay box, or repair open wire.
- Check for battery voltage at terminal No. 1, with hazard warning switch On. If battery voltage does not exist, replace hazard warning switch, or repair open wire. Also, check for battery voltage with ignition on and right turn signal indicator activated. If battery voltage does not exist, replace faulty turn signal switch, or repair open wire.
- Check for battery voltage at terminal No. 5, with hazard warning switch On. If battery voltage does not exist, replace hazard warning switch, or repair open wire. Also, check for battery voltage with ignition on and left turn signal indicator activated. If battery voltage does not exist, replace faulty turn signal switch, or repair open wire.
- With ignition on, connect terminals No. 3 and 6. Left turn signals should illuminate, as long as terminals No. 3 and 6 are connected. If turn signals do not illuminate, check for an open bulb, poor ground at G301 and G601 or an open wire.
- With ignition on, connect terminals No. 2 and 3. Right turn signals should illuminate, as long as terminals No. 2 and 3 are connected. If turn signals do not illuminate, check for an open bulb, poor ground at G201 and G601 or an open wire.
