Generators & Regulators - Denso: Description

NOTE: For Passport information, refer to Rodeo in ISUZU section.
NOTE: Civic models are equipped with Mitsubishi generators and regulators. See GENERATORS & REGULATORS - MITSUBISHI article.

The Denso generator uses 4 positive and 4 negative diodes to rectify current. A voltage regulator, which is part of the generator, controls charging system voltage based on commands from Engine Control Module (ECM) or Powertrain Control Module (PCM).

Charging system incorporates Electric Load Detector (ELD), which measures load on the charging system. ELD sends signal to the ECM or PCM, which controls the voltage regulator. By adjusting voltage output, ECM/PCM reduces mechanical load on engine for better fuel economy.
