Abs Indicator Light Does Not Come On

  1. Turn ignition on. If ABS indicator light does not illuminate, go to next step. If ABS indicator light illuminates for about 2 seconds and then goes out, problem does not exist at this time. If ABS indicator light illuminates and stays on, see ABS INDICATOR LIGHT REMAINS ON, BUT DOES NOT FLASH TROUBLE CODES  .
  2. Turn ignition off, then on again. If brake system indicator light illuminates, go to next step. If brake system indicator light does not illuminate, check for blown fuse No. 9 (7.5-amp), located in driver's underdash fuse/relay box. If fuse is blown, replace fuse and locate short. If fuse is okay, repair open in Yellow wire between driver's underdash fuse/relay box and gauge assembly.
  3. Turn ignition off. Disconnect ABS control unit 12-pin connector "B". See Fig 1 . Turn ignition on. If ABS indicator light illuminates, check ABS control unit connectors for loose, damaged or corroded terminals. If problem exists, repair connector(s). If problem does not exist, replace ABS control unit and retest system. If ABS indicator light does not illuminate, go to next step.
  4. Check for blown ABS indicator bulb in gauge assembly. If bulb is blown, replace bulb. If bulb is okay, turn ignition off. Disconnect gauge assembly 16-pin connector "C". Check for continuity between ground and gauge assembly connector "C" terminal No. 10 (Blue/White wire). See Fig 2 . If continuity does not exist, go to next step. If continuity exists, repair short to ground in Blue/White wire between ABS control unit and gauge assembly.
  5. Reconnect gauge assembly connector "C". Connect fused jumper wire between ground and gauge assembly 22-pin connector "B" terminal No. 16 (Black wire) by backprobing. Turn ignition on. If ABS indicator light does not illuminate, replace printed circuit board in gauge assembly. If ABS indicator light illuminates, repair open in Black wire between gauge assembly connector "B" terminal No. 16 and ground. Ground point is located behind instrument panel center panel.
