Anti-Theft & Keyless Entry System: Description

WARNING: Deactivate air bag system before performing any service operation. See AIR BAG RESTRAINT SYSTEMS article. DO NOT apply electrical power to any component on steering column without first deactivating air bag system. Air bag may deploy.
NOTE: Honda anti-theft system is a dealer installed option and component locations may vary. Anti-theft system is integrated into keyless entry system. Manufacturer provides anti-theft system test procedures, but does provide test procedures for keyless entry portion of system.

The security system uses a 3-position (AUTO, AUTO LOCK and MANUAL) switch to control arming of anti-theft system. Regardless of switch position, when system is armed, parking lights will flash once and security LED will flash once per second.

In AUTO or AUTO LOCK mode, the security alarm system is automatically armed 20 seconds after engine is turned off, key removed from ignition switch and last door, trunk and hood (if equipped with optional hood switch) is closed. Additionally, in the AUTO LOCK mode, doors will automatically lock when system is armed. The 20 second delay allows for entry or exit from vehicle after arming system or prior to disarming system. If a door is opened during the 20 second exit delay time, timer will automatically reset. Remote transmitter can still be used to arm system with switch in AUTO or AUTO LOCK position.

In MANUAL mode, the system can only be armed using remote transmitter after key is removed from ignition switch, all doors, trunk and hood (if equipped with optional hood switch) are closed. System is armed by pressing LOCK button in remote transmitter. Horn will sound once (if in beep mode) and all doors will lock. There is no delay when system is armed using remote transmitter.
