Hydraulic System Bleeding
CAUTION:
Do not spill brake fluid on painted surfaces. To avoid paint damage, clean any spilled brake fluid with a clean cloth and clear water, immediately.
NOTE:
Manufacturer recommends using genuine Honda DOT 3 brake fluid. Using a non-Honda brake fluid can cause corrosion and decrease life of brake system.
- Make sure the brake fluid level in the reservoir is to the "max" upper level line. See Fig 1 .
- Slide a piece of clear plastic hose over the first bleed screw, and submerge the other end in a container of new brake fluid.
- Have someone slowly pump the brake pedal several times, then apply steady pressure.
- Loosen the left front brake bleed screw to allow air to escape from the system. Then tighten the bleed screw securely. See Fig 2 .
- Repeat the procedure for each wheel in the sequence shown below until air bubbles no longer appear in the fluid. See BRAKELINE BLEEDING SEQUENCE
