Wiper/Washer Switch Test

Remove instrument panel lower cover and steering column covers. Disconnect both 8-pin connectors from wiper/washer switch. Remove 2 screws, then remove switch. Check continuity or resistance between specified terminals with switch in indicated positions. See FRONT WIPER/WASHER SWITCH CONTINUITY TEST  or REAR WIPER/WASHER SWITCH CONTINUITY TEST  tables. See Fig 1 . If continuity or resistance is not as specified, replace wiper/washer switch.

FRONT WIPER/WASHER SWITCH CONTINUITY TEST

Switch Position Continuity Between Terminals
OFF A3 & A5
INT A2 & A7; A3 & A5
LO A3 & A8
HI A4 & A8
MIST (On) A4 & A8
WASHER (On) A1 & A7
Intermittent Dwell Time (1) B4 & B8
(1) Resistance should smoothly vary between 0-30 k/ohms.
REAR WIPER/WASHER SWITCH CONTINUITY TEST

ON B1 & B3
WASHER (On, Wiper OFF) B5 & B7
