Tailgate Latch Switch Test/Replacement

  1. Open the tailgate.
  2. Remove the tailgate trim panel (see TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION - TAILGATE AREA ).
  3. Disconnect the 2P (or 6P) connector (A) from the latch.

  4. Check for continuity between the No. 1 and No. 2 terminals.
    • With the tailgate open, there should be continuity.
    • With the tailgate closed, there should be no continuity.
  5. If the continuity is not as specified, replace the tailgate latch.
