Transfer Assembly Removal
- Shift the transmission into N.
- Raise the vehicle on a lift, and make sure it is supported securely.
- Remove the drain plug (A), and drain the automatic transmission fluid (ATF).
- Reinstall the drain plug with a new sealing washer (B).
- Disconnect the A/F sensor connector (K24Z1 engine) and the secondary HO2S connector.
- K24Z1 engine: Remove the A/F sensor harness and the secondary HO2S harness from the harness clamps.
K24Z6 engine: Remove the secondary HO2S harness from the harness clamp.
- Remove the three-way catalytic converter (K24Z1 engine) or the under-floor three-way catalytic converter (K24Z6 engine).
- Make a reference mark (A) across the propeller shaft (B) and the transfer companion flange (C).
- Separate the propeller shaft from the transfer companion flange.
- Remove the transfer assembly mounting bolts (A) (4), and pull out the bolt (B) to the limit of travel.
- Remove the transfer assembly (C) and the dowel pin (D) from the transmission.
