Suspension Stroke Sensor Circuit Troubleshooting
- Before troubleshooting, make sure the No. D21 (7.5 A) fuse in the passenger's under-dash fuse/relay box is OK.
- Before troubleshooting, check for DTCs and make sure the B-CAN communication lines are OK.
- Raise the vehicle, make sure it is securely supported.
- Disconnect the 3P connector (A) from the front suspension stroke sensor (B).
- Disconnect the 3P connector (A) from the rear suspension stroke sensor (B).
- Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).
- Turn the combination light (headlight) switch ON.
- Individually check for continuity between front and rear suspension stroke sensors 3P connector terminal No. 1 and body ground.Fig 3: Checking Continuity Between Front And Rear Suspension Stroke Sensors 3P Connector Terminal No. 1 And Body Ground

Is there continuity?
YES -Go to step 7.
NO -Repair an open in the wire or poor ground (G403), if the wire is OK, replace the headlight leveling control unit (see HEADLIGHT LEVELING CONTROL UNIT INPUT TEST/REPLACEMENT ).

Is there about 5 V?
YES -Go to step 8.
NO -Check for an open or a short in the wire between the headlight leveling control unit and the front (or rear) suspension stroke sensor. If the wire is OK, replace the front (or rear) suspension stroke sensor (see SUSPENSION STROKE SENSOR REPLACEMENT ).
- Reconnect the 3P connector to each suspension stroke sensor.
- Remove the nut (A) and the front suspension stroke sensor from the lower sensor arm.
- Remove the nut (A) and the rear suspension stroke sensor from the lower arm.
- Measure the voltage between headlight leveling control unit 16P connector terminals No. 3 and No. 5 while moving the front suspension stroke sensor arm (A).

Is there between 0.5-4.5 V?
YES -Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time. Check for loose or poor connection between the headlight leveling control unit and the front suspension stroke sensor, if the connections are OK, replace the front suspension stroke sensor (see SUSPENSION STROKE SENSOR REPLACEMENT ).
NO -Check for an open or a short in the wires between the headlight leveling control unit and the front suspension stroke sensor, if the wires are OK, go to step 12.
- Measure the voltage between headlight leveling control unit 16P connector terminals No. 2 and No. 5 while moving the rear suspension stroke sensor arm (A).

Is there between 0.5-4.5 V?
YES -Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time. Check for loose or poor connection between the headlight leveling control unit and the rear suspension stroke sensor, if the connections are OK, replace the rear suspension stroke sensor (see SUSPENSION STROKE SENSOR REPLACEMENT ).
NO -Check for an open or a short in the wire between the headlight leveling control unit and the rear suspension stroke sensor, if the wires are OK, replace the rear suspension stroke sensor (see SUSPENSION STROKE SENSOR REPLACEMENT ).
