SRS components are located in this area. Review the SRS component locations (see COMPONENT LOCATION INDEX ) and the precautions and procedures (see PRECAUTIONS AND PROCEDURES ) before doing repairs or service.
NOTE:
- Put on gloves to protect your hands.
- Take care not to damage, wrinkle or twist the carpet.
- Use the appropriate tool from the KTC trim tool set to avoid damage when removing components.
- Be careful not to damage the dashboard and other interior trim pieces.
- Do the 12 volt battery terminal disconnection procedure (see 12 VOLT BATTERY TERMINAL DISCONNECTION AND RECONNECTION ), then wait at least 3 minutes before beginning work.
- Remove these items:
- Center console (see CENTER CONSOLE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION ).
- Front seats, both sides (see FRONT SEAT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION )
- Kick panels, both sides (see TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION - DOOR AREAS ).
- Front door sill trim, both sides (see TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION - DOOR AREAS ).
- B-pillar lower trim, both sides (see B-PILLAR UPPER/LOWER TRIM ).
- Rear door sill trim, both sides (see REAR DOOR SILL AREA ).
- Rear seat cushion (see REAR SEAT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION ).
- Pry up the gap detach the clips and pins (A), then remove the footrest (B).
- Remove the front portion of the carpet (A).
- Cut the carpet in the area (B) shown, then remove the carpet.
- Pull the seat harnesses (C) out through the holes in the carpet.
- Install the carpet in the reverse order of removal, and note these items:
- Take care not to damage, wrinkle or twist the carpet.
- Make sure the seat harnesses are routed correctly.
- If the clips are damaged or stress-whitened replace them with new ones.
- When installing new carpet, cut the carpet (A) in the area (B) as shown.
- Push the clips into place securely.
- Do the 12 volt battery terminal reconnection procedure (see 12 VOLT BATTERY TERMINAL DISCONNECTION AND RECONNECTION ).
