Horn Switch Test (2010)
SRS components are located in this area. Review the SRS component locations (see COMPONENT LOCATION INDEX ) and the precautions and procedures (see PRECAUTIONS AND PROCEDURES ) before doing repairs or service.
- Remove the steering column covers (see GLOVE BOX STRIKER REPLACEMENT ).
- Disconnect the dashboard wire harness 20P connector (A) from the cable reel (B).
- Using a jumper wire, connect dashboard wire harness 20P connector terminal No. 1 to body ground. The horn should sound.
- If the horn sounds, go to step 4.
- If the horn does not sound, check these items:
- Battery terminal fuse box No. 3 (20 A) fuse.
- No. 24 (10 A) fuse in the under-dash fuse/relay box.
- ICU.
- Horn (see HORN TEST/REPLACEMENT ).
- An open in the wire.
- Reconnect the dashboard wire harness 20P connector (A) to the cable reel (B).
- Remove the driver's airbag assembly (see DRIVER'S AIRBAG REPLACEMENT ), and disconnect the horn switch 1P positive terminal (C) from the driver's airbag.
- Using a jumper wire, connect cable reel subharness 20P connector terminal No. 11 to body ground. The horn should sound.
- If the horn sounds, go to step 7.
- If the horn does not sound, replace the cable reel (see CABLE REEL REPLACEMENT ).
- Using a jumper wire, connect the horn switch 1P positive terminal to body ground. The horn should sound.
- If the horn sounds, check the installation of the driver's airbag assembly and the steering wheel. If OK, replace the driver's airbag assembly.
- If the horn does not sound, repair an open in the wire.
