SERVICE INFORMATION

MVCI kits shipped prior to December 31, 2010, came with a USB cable. Since then, we've discovered that an Ethernet connection is more robust and reliable than the USB connection. It also supports 64-bit operating systems, like Windows 7, 64-bit.

Because an Ethernet cable wasn't included with the early MVCI kits, we're sending one for each of those MVCIs. If you want to order extra cables, they're available through the Tool and Equipment Program, P/N OTCH559594. We strongly recommend using the Ethernet or the wireless connection to communicate with your HDS PC. Don't use the USB connection, as there have been reported issues when connecting the MVCI.

Connecting the MVCI to your PC with the Ethernet cable is easy as it has plug-and-play  capability. If you need help, refer to the MVCI Ethernet Quick Connection Guide  that came with the Ethernet cable (it's also available online) or the Modular Vehicle Communication Interface (MVCI) User Guide  that's available online. You can also call the Special Tools Hotline at 800-346-6327  .
