AC Inverter Unit Input Test/Replacement

  1. Do the battery terminal disconnection procedure (see BATTERY TERMINAL DISCONNECTION AND RECONNECTION ).
  2. Remove the passenger's side center console trim (see CENTER CONSOLE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION ).
  3. Disconnect the 12P connector (A) from the AC inverter unit (B).

  4. Inspect the connector and socket terminals to be sure they are all making good contact.
    • If the terminals are bent, loose or corroded, repair them as necessary, and recheck the system.
    • If the terminals look OK, go to step 5.
  5. With the connector still disconnected, do these input tests at the following connector.
    • If any test indicates a problem, find and correct the cause, then recheck the system.
    • If all the input tests prove OK, go to step 6.
      WIRE CONDITION CHART

Cavity Wire Test condition Test: Desired result Possible cause if desired result is not obtained
5 ORN Under all conditions Check for continuity between terminal No. 5 and power outlet 3P connector terminal No. 3:
      There should be continuity.
      An open in the wire
12 BLU Under all conditions Check for continuity between terminal No. 12 and power outlet 3P connector terminal No. 1:
      There should be continuity.
      An open in the wire
  6. Reconnect the connector, turn the ignition switch to ON (II), and do these input tests at following the connectors.
    • If any test indicates a problem, find and correct the cause, then recheck the system.
    • If all the input tests prove OK, replace the AC inverter unit, then go to step 7.
      WIRE CONDITION CHART

Cavity Wire Test condition Test: Desired result Possible cause if desired result is not obtained
6 BLK Under all conditions Measure the voltage to ground:
There should be less than 0.5 V.
      • Poor ground (G403)
      • An open in the wire
1 GRN Under all conditions Measure the voltage to ground:
      There should be battery voltage.
      • Blown No. 15 (20 A) fuse in the auxiliary under-hood fuse/relay box
      • An open in the wire
3 YEL Ignition switch ON (II) Measure the voltage to ground: There should be battery voltage.
      • Blown No. 36 (10 A) fuse in the under-dash fuse/relay box
      • Faulty under-dash fuse/relay box
      • An open in the wire
  7. Do the battery terminal reconnection procedure (see BATTERY TERMINAL DISCONNECTION AND RECONNECTION ).
