SRS components are located in this area. Review the SRS component locations (see COMPONENT LOCATION INDEX ) and the precautions and procedures (see PRECAUTIONS AND PROCEDURES ) before doing repairs or service.
NOTE:
- Put on gloves to protect your hands.
- Take care not to damage, wrinkle or twist the carpet.
- Be careful not to damage the dashboard or the interior trim.
- Use the appropriate tool from the KTC trim tool set to avoid damage when removing components.
- Remove these items:
- Seats, both sides (see HEAD RESTRAINT TRIM REPLACEMENT )
- Door sill trims, both sides (see TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION - DOOR AREAS )
- Rear tray (see TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION - REAR TRAY AREA )
- Steering joint cover (see step 6 on INSTALLATION )
- Parking brake lever (see PARKING BRAKE LEVER REPLACEMENT )
- Remove the bolts (A, B) and detach the harness clips (C), then remove the base bracket (D).
- Remove the carpet (A).
- Cut the carpet in the area (B) as shown.
- Pull out the floor wire harnesses (C) through the holes in the carpet.
- Fold the carpet lightly, and pull out it through the door opening.
Heel stopper replacement
- If necessary, detach the clip, then remove the heel stopper (A).
- Install the carpet in the reverse order of removal, and note these items:
- Take care not to damage, wrinkle, or twist the carpet.
- Make sure the floor wire harnesses are routed correctly.
- If the clips are damaged or stress-whitened, replace them with new ones.
- Push the clips into place securely.
- Make sure each connector is plugged in properly.
