Water Pump Replacement

  1. Remove the right front wheel.
  2. Remove the splash shield (see SPLASH SHIELD REPLACEMENT ).
  3. Drain the engine coolant (see COOLANT REPLACEMENT  ).
  4. Loosen the water pump pulley mounting bolts.
  5. Remove the drive belt (see DRIVE BELT REPLACEMENT  ).
  6. Remove the water pump pulley (A).

  7. Remove the five bolts securing the water pump (A), then remove the water pump.

  8. Inspect and clean the mating surface with the engine block.
  9. Install the water pump with a new O-ring (B) in the reverse order of removal.
  10. Clean up any spilled engine coolant.
  11. Install the water pump pulley (A), and loosely install the water pump pulley mounting bolts.

  12. Install the drive belt (see DRIVE BELT AUTO-TENSIONER INSPECTION  ).
  13. Tighten the water pump pulley mounting bolts.
  14. Install the splash shield (see SPLASH SHIELD REPLACEMENT ).
  15. Install the right front wheel.
  16. Refill the radiator with engine coolant, and bleed the air from the cooling system (see COOLANT REPLACEMENT  ).
