IPU Case Removal/Installation
IMA components are located in this area. The IMA is a high-voltage system. You must be familiar with the IMA system before working on or around it. Make sure you have read the IMA service precautions before doing repairs or service (see SERVICE PRECAUTIONS ).
- Make sure the ignition switch to LOCK (0).
- Do the 12 volt battery terminal disconnection procedure (see 12 VOLT BATTERY TERMINAL DISCONNECTION AND RECONNECTION ).
- Remove the IPU module air duct (see IPU MODULE FAN REPLACEMENT ).
- Remove the IPU cover (see IPU COVER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION ).
- Remove the PCU lid (see step 8 ).
- Disconnect the four IMA motor power cables (A) from the phase motor current sensor, then wrap the end of the 12 volt power cable (B) with insulating tape.NOTE: Check the position of the U phase, the V phase, and the W phase cables before disconnecting them.
- Open the clamp (C).
- Disconnect the connector (A).
- Remove the bolts (B, C), then remove the IPU assembly (D).
- Remove the harness clamp (A), the clips (B), and the IPU case (C).NOTE: The IPU frame seals (D) must be replaced with new ones when the IPU case is removed.
- Install the parts in the reverse order of removal.NOTE: Make sure the IMA motor power cables are correctly positioned before you reconnect them.
- Do the 12 volt battery terminal reconnection procedure (see 12 VOLT BATTERY TERMINAL DISCONNECTION AND RECONNECTION ).
