Power Tailgate Sensor Test
NOTE:
If the motor does not operate, do the power tailgate motor test (see POWER TAILGATE MOTOR TEST
).
- Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0), and then back to ON (II).
- Open the tailgate.
- Remove the left rear side trim (see TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION - REAR SIDE AREA ).
- Measure the voltage between power tailgate drive unit connector B (8P) terminal No. 8 and body ground.
- If there is no battery voltage, repair an open or high resistance in the wire. If the wire is OK, replace the power tailgate control unit.
- If there is battery voltage, go to step 5.
- Measure the voltage between power tailgate drive unit connector B (8P) terminals No. 6 and No. 4, and between terminals No. 7 and No. 4 while the tailgate is opened or closed manually.
- If the voltage alternates between about 0 V and 5 V with an analog voltmeter, or about 2.5 V is indicated with a digital voltmeter, repair an open or high resistance in the wire. If the wire is OK, replace the power tailgate control unit (see CONTROL UNIT INPUT TEST/REPLACEMENT ).
- If the voltage is not specified, replace the power tailgate sensor (see POWER TAILGATE SENSOR REPLACEMENT ).
