Water Pump Inspection

- Remove the right front wheel.
- Remove the splash shield.
- Loosen the water pump pulley mounting bolts (A).
- Remove the drive belt (see DRIVE BELT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION ).
- Remove the water pump bolts and pulley (B).
- Turn the water pump counterclockwise, and make sure that it turns freely. If it does not, replace the water pump (see WATER PUMP REPLACEMENT
).NOTE: When checking the water pump, you may see a small amount of "weeping" from the bleed holes (A). This is normal.
- Install the water pump pulley (A), and loosely install the water pump pulley mounting bolts (B).
- Install the drive belt (see DRIVE BELT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION ).
- Tighten the water pump pulley mounting bolts.
- Install the splash shield.
- Install the right front wheel.
