Water Pump Inspection

  1. Remove the right front wheel.
  2. Remove the splash shield.
  3. Loosen the water pump pulley mounting bolts (A).

  4. Remove the drive belt (see DRIVE BELT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION ).
  5. Remove the water pump bolts and pulley (B).
  6. Turn the water pump counterclockwise, and make sure that it turns freely. If it does not, replace the water pump (see WATER PUMP REPLACEMENT  ).
    NOTE: When checking the water pump, you may see a small amount of "weeping" from the bleed holes (A). This is normal.

  7. Install the water pump pulley (A), and loosely install the water pump pulley mounting bolts (B).

  8. Install the drive belt (see DRIVE BELT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION ).
  9. Tighten the water pump pulley mounting bolts.

  10. Install the splash shield.
  11. Install the right front wheel.
