Camshaft Oil Seal - In Car: Replacement

  1. Timing Belt - Remove
  2. Camshaft Pulley and Back Cover - Remove
  3. Camshaft Oil Seal - Remove

    1. Clean and dry the camshaft oil seal housing.

    2. Apply a light coat of new engine oil to the lip of the camshaft oil seal.

    3. Using the ball joint remover/installer, a washer (A), and a 12 x 75 x 1.25 mm bolt (B), press in a new camshaft oil seal (C) squarely into the cylinder head to the specified installed height.

    4. Measure the distance between the cylinder head surface (E) and the camshaft oil seal (F).


    Camshaft Oil Seal Installed Height 
    0.5-1.5 mm (0.020-0.059 in) 

    5. Clean the excess oil off the camshaft, and check that the camshaft oil seal lip is not distorted.
