Manual Mirror Defogger Function

The power mirror defogger is controlled by the climate control unit. When the vehicle is in the ON mode and the rear window defogger/mirror defogger switch is pressed, the climate control unit sends the defogger ON signal as a B-CAN signal to the door multiplex control unit. The door multiplex control unit operates the driver's side mirror defogger, and sends the defogger ON signal via the LIN to the front passenger's power window switch to operate the passenger's side mirror defogger.

Auto Mirror Defogger Function

When the door multiplex control unit receives a signal that the outside air temperature is 41 °F (5 °C) or below from the climate control unit, the door multiplex control unit automatically turns on the mirror defoggers after the vehicle is in the ON mode. The mirror defogger output automatically stops in 10 minutes as a result of its timer. If the door multiplex control unit receives a rear window defogger/mirror defogger switch input signal from the climate control unit during mirror defogger output, the door multiplex control unit shuts off the auto operation function immediately.

Timer Function

The power mirror defogger provides the timer control function that is controlled by the climate control unit. The timer control is operated by turning the vehicle to the ON mode, then turning on the power mirror defogger switch. The timer operating time varies according to ambient temperature. If the power mirror defogger switch is turned on when the timer is active, it toggles between ON and OFF every time the switch is pressed.
