DTC P0344: Inspection

CMP Sensor A (Bank 1) Circuit Connectors Inspection 

Test Procedure 

• Procedure
  • Check the connectors for a secure connection or for loose terminals at the following components:

    * CMP sensor A (Bank 1)

    * PCM

• Normal Conditions
  • Conditions at the connections and terminals are OK.

Results 

• If it is abnormal, there is a problem with the connections or terminals.

CMP Sensor A (Bank 1) Circuit Terminals Inspection 

Test Procedure 

• Procedure
  • Check the connectors for a secure connection or for loose terminals at the following components:

    * Engine ground

    * Body ground

• Normal Conditions
  • Conditions at the connections and terminals are OK.

Results 

• If it is abnormal, there is a problem with the connections or terminals.

CMP Pulse Plate A (Bank 1) Visual Inspection 

Test Procedure 

• Preparation
  • Rear cylinder head cover: removed

• Procedure
  • Visually inspect CMP pulse plate A (Bank 1) for looseness or damages.

• Normal Conditions
  • There is no looseness or damages.

Results 

• If it is abnormal, there is a problem with the rear intake camshaft.

CMP Sensor A (Bank 1) Inspection 

NOTE:  Since there is no direct method to test the inspection item, troubleshooting is performed using a known-good component.

Test Procedure 

• Install a known-good CMP sensor A (Bank 1) and attempt to reproduce the failure.

Results 

• If the failure is reproduced, there is a problem with other related components.
• If the symptom/DTC goes away, CMP sensor A (Bank 1) must be faulty.

PCM Inspection 

Test Procedure 

• If the other inspection item(s) indicated a normal condition, then it is determined that the remaining PCM is the cause.

Results 

• There is a problem with the PCM.
