Air Flow Chamber, Air Cleaner Housing Visual Inspection
Test Procedure
- Procedure
- Check the condition at the connections or for any blockage at the following:
* Air flow chamber
* Air cleaner housing
- Check the condition at the connections or for any blockage at the following:
- Normal Conditions
- Conditions at the connections are OK, and there is no blockages.
Results
- If it is abnormal, there is a problem with the intake air system component(s).
Throttle Body Visual Inspection
Test Procedure
- Preparation
- Throttle body inlet hose: disconnected from the throttle body
- Procedure
- Do the throttle body cleaning - Refer to: Throttle Body Cleaning () or Throttle Body Carbon Accumulation Check () .
- Check the throttle valve and bore for dirt, carbons, or damages.
- Normal Conditions
- There is no dirt, carbons, or damages.
Results
- If it is abnormal, there is a problem with the throttle body.
MAF Sensor Functional Inspection
Test Procedure
- Procedure
- Start the engine, and let it idle.
- Make sure the following conditions are met:

- HDS [ECT Sensor 1] above 158°F (70°C )
- Transmission in P or N
- All engine and electrical loads turned off
- Monitor the HDS [Engine Speed] and hold the engine speed at 2,500 rpm for 30 seconds.
- Confirm the HDS [MAF Sensor] while holding the engine speed at 2,500 rpm.
- Normal Conditions
- HDS [MAF Sensor] value is between 11.5 g/s and 16.1 g/s .
Results
- If it is abnormal, there is a problem with MAF sensor/IAT sensor.
IAT Sensor Functional Inspection
Preconditions
- Engine is cold condition (ambient temperature)
Test Procedure
- Procedure
- Note the ambient temperature.
- Turn the vehicle to the ON mode.
- Quickly note the HDS [IAT Sensor (1)].
- Compare the HDS [IAT Sensor (1)] value to the recorded ambient temperature.
- Normal Conditions
- The difference between the HDS [IAT Sensor (1)] value and the ambient temperature is less than 5.4°F (3°C ).
Results
- If it is abnormal, there is a problem with MAF sensor/IAT sensor.
