The EVTM line of the powertrain control module (PCM) is installed to receive a diagnostic signal from the electric VTC motor. Normally, the EVTM line output duty from the electric VTC motor is 80 % (+/-5 %) when the electric VTC relay is ON. If the EVTM line output duty is 40 % (+/-5 %) or 60 % (+/-5 %) despite the ON of the electric VTC relay, the PCM detects a malfunction and stores a DTC.
