Throttle Body: Installation

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Oldsmobile Intrigue and 2002 Oldsmobile Aurora. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
CAUTION: Do not use any solvent that contains Methyl Ethyl Ketone (MEK). This solvent may damage fuel system components. Clean the throttle body bore and throttle valve plate using a clean shop towel with GM Top Engine Cleaner (GM P/N 1052626) or AC-Delco Carburetor Tune-Up Conditioner (GM P/N X66-P).
  1. Install a NEW throttle body gasket, and NEW studs if necessary. Install the throttle body assembly. Finger start the top nut. Connect the throttle body coolant hoses. Position the accelerator controls bracket. Finger start the accelerator controls bracket retaining nuts and bolt. Tighten the 3 throttle body retaining nuts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS . Tighten the accelerator bracket retaining bolt to specification.
  2. Connect the throttle body vacuum port hose. Connect the PCV valve hose. Connect the fuel pressure regulator vacuum hose. Connect the accelerator controls cable to the throttle body lever. Connect the cruise control cable to the throttle body lever. Connect the IAC valve electrical connector.
  3. Install the TP sensor electrical connector. Install the air intake duct. Refill cooling system. See COOLING SYSTEM BLEEDING  under COOLING SYSTEM.

  1. Position the NEW throttle body gasket on to the throttle body. Install the throttle body. Tighten the throttle body bolts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS . Install accelerator control bracket bolts to the throttle body.
  2. Install the IAC valve electrical connector. Install the TP sensor electrical connector. Install the accelerator control cable at the throttle body lever. Install the cruise control cable at the throttle body lever. Install the accelerator cable to the accelerator controls cable bracket.
  3. Install the cruise control cable to the accelerator controls cable bracket. Install the transaxle shift cable clip to the accelerator controls cable bracket. Install the fuel feed and return lines from the retainer on to the accelerator controls cable bracket. Install the MAF/IAT sensor electrical connector.
  4. Install and tighten the air cleaner intake duct clamp. Install the PCV valve fresh air tube. Keeping the injector sight shield as level as possible, place the rear of the shield under the mounting bracket. Align and press the injector sight shield onto the mounting studs. Install the mounting nuts onto the mounting studs and tighten nuts. Install the negative battery cable. Install the rear seat cushion.
