Engine Control Module: Removal

  1. Ensure ignition is off. Disconnect negative battery cables. If equipped with the Allison transmission, remove the engine harness clip from the ECM cover. Release the ECM cover mounting holes away from the mounting tabs on the ECM mounting bracket. See Figure.
  2. Release the ECM cover from the mounting bracket. Remove the ECM cover. Disconnect the ECM harness connectors. Release the spring latch from the ECM. Release the ECM mounting tabs from the ECM. Remove the ECM from the engine compartment.
