Disabling System

NOTE: When SIR fuse is removed and ignition is on, AIR BAG warning light will be on. This does not indicate a system malfunction.
  1. Turn steering wheel to place vehicle wheels in straight-ahead position. Turn ignition off and remove key.
  2. Remove SIR fuse from underhood fuse block, located near battery in engine compartment. See Fig 1. Remove driver-side knee bolster. Remove Connector Position Assurance (CPA) clip from driver-side air bag Yellow 2-pin connector, located at base of steering column. See Fig 2. Disconnect driver-side air bag electrical connector.
  3. Remove passenger-side knee bolster. Remove CPA clip from passenger-side air bag Yellow 2-pin electrical connector. See Fig 3. Disconnect passenger-side air bag electrical connector.
  4. Remove CPA clip and disconnect driver side impact air bag connector, located under driver seat. Remove CPA clip and disconnect passenger side impact air bag connector located under passenger seat. See Fig 4.
