Removal Procedure
IMPORTANT:
Use the J 24319-B
in order to separate all the tie rods and ball joints. See Special Tools .
- Raise the vehicle. Refer to LIFTING AND JACKING THE VEHICLE .
- Remove the nut from the outer tie rod ball stud (2).
Do not reuse the nut.
- Use the J 24319-B in order to remove the outer tie rod ball stud from the steering knuckle. See Special Tools .
- Loosen the jam nut (1).
- Separate the outer tie rod end from the inner tie rod.
- Inspect the shaft for bent or damaged threads.
- Clean the tapered surface of the steering knuckle.
