Power Steering Pump Replacement

Preliminary Procedures

  1. Remove the intake manifold Cover. Refer to Intake Manifold Cover Replacement .
  2. Remove the drive belt. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement .
  3. Remove the drive belt idler pulley. Refer to Drive Belt Idler Pulley Replacement .
  4. Remove the air cleaner assembly. Refer to Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement .
  5. Remove the engine mount strut. Refer to Engine Mount Strut Replacement .
  6. Remove the power steering pump pulley. Refer to Power Steering Pump Pulley Replacement .
1 Engine Lift Bracket Bolt (Qty: 3)
NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice .

Tighten:  50 N.m (37 lb ft)

2 Engine Lift Bracket
3 Power Steering Gear Inlet Pipe/Hose
Tip: 
  • Use an appropriate tool to remove the power steering fluid from the reservoir before removing the hoses from the pump.
  • Use a new O-ring seal for installation.

Tighten:  27 N.m (20 lb ft)

4 Power Steering Reservoir Inlet Pipe/Hose
Tip:  Compress the clamp and to disconnect the return hose from the power steering reservoir.
5 Power Steering Pump Bolt (Qty: 3)

Tighten:  25 N.m (18 lb ft)

6 Power Steering Pump
Tip:  After installation, fill and bleed the power steering system. Refer to Power Steering System Bleeding .
