Bench Testing: Brushes

Replace brushes if worn to limit line. See Fig 1. Standard new brush spring tension should be 12-16 ozs. (340-453 g). Replace all brush springs if any tension measured is less than 7 ozs. (198 g) or if any springs are corroded.

To remove brushes from holder, unsolder pigtail from terminal. To replace, solder pigtail to terminal ensuring .25" (6.35 mm) of brush will be located in brush holder.
