Code 19, Defective Tone Wheel
- Disconnect suspect wheel speed sensor connector. Using an ohmmeter, measure resistance between wheel speed sensor connector terminals. Resistance should be 1275-1495 ohms (front sensor) or 1260-1540 ohms (rear sensor). If resistance is not as specified, replace sensor. If resistance is as specified, go to next step.
- Set voltmeter to AC scale. Connect a voltmeter between suspect wheel speed sensor connector terminals. Observe voltmeter and rotate wheel by hand. If voltage is indicated, go to next step. If no voltage is indicated, replace sensor.
- Disconnect negative battery cable. Disconnect ABS ECM connector. ECM is located on right side of trunk, behind trim panel. Measure resistance between ABS ECM connector terminals. See TESTING WHEEL SPEED SENSOR CIRCUITS table. See Fig 1 . If resistance is as specified, go to next step. If resistance is not as specified, repair wiring as necessary.
- Check suspect tone wheel. Remove front or rear wheel. Check tone wheel for missing teeth and scratches. Replace tone wheel as necessary. If tone wheel is okay, ensure wheel speed sensor-to-tone wheel air gap is .008-.043" (0.2-1.1 mm).
