DTC P0130/P0136 - O2S Malfunction
- P0130 - Front O2S
- P0136 - Rear O2S
- Install scan tool. Start engine and check DTC. If DTC P0130 or P0136 is present, go to next step. If DTC is not present, problem is intermittent. Check for faulty injector, airflow sensor, IAT sensor, BARO pressure sensor, ECT sensor or for intake manifold leak.
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect affected O2S harness connector. Turn ignition on. Using a DVOM, check voltage between harness connector terminal No. 4 and ground. See appropriate wiring diagram in WIRING DIAGRAMS section. Battery voltage should be present. If voltage is as specified, go to next step. If voltage is not as specified, check circuit between terminal No. 4 and ECM.
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect ECM harness connector. Connect DVOM between O2S harness connector No. 1 and ground. Jumper ECM terminal No. 6 (front O2S) or No. 7 (rear O2S), or terminal No. 3. Continuity should be present. If continuity is not present, check for open in circuit. Remove jumper from ECM terminal. Continuity should not be present. If continuity is present, check for short in circuit. If circuit is okay, go to next step.
- Connect DVOM between affected O2S harness connector terminal No. 2 and ground, and then to terminal No. 3 and ground. Continuity should be present. If continuity si not present, repair open in circuit. If circuit is okay, go to next step.
- Reconnect O2S and ECM harness connectors. Start and warm engine to normal operating temperature. If scan tool is not used, go to next step. If scan tool is used, monitor O2S voltage. See O2S OPERATING VOLTAGE SPECIFICATIONS table. If voltages are not as specified, replace affected O2S.O2S OPERATING VOLTAGE SPECIFICATIONS
Engine RPM Output (Volts) 750 0.4 Or Less 2000 0.6-1.0 4000 To 750 Sudden deceleration 0.2 Or Less 750 To 4000 Sudden acceleration 0.6-1.0 - Disconnect affected O2S. Using a DVOM, check resistance between O2S harness connector terminals No. 3 and 4. Resistance should be 30 ohms or greater. If resistance is as specified, go to next step. If resistance is not as specified, replace O2S.
- Apply positive battery voltage to O2S harness connector terminal No. 4 and negative battery voltage to O2S harness connector terminal No. 3. Connect DVOM between O2S harness connector terminals No. 1 and 2. Start and race engine while measuring O2S output voltage. Output voltage should be .6 volt. If output voltage is not as specified, replace affected O2S.
