- Turn ignition off. Disconnect relay box 2-pin connector. See Figure . Measure voltage between ground and terminal No. 2 (Red/Black wire) of relay box 2-pin connector (wiring harness side). If voltage is 9-14 volts, go to next step. If voltage is not 9-14 volts, locate and repair open in wiring harness.
- Ensure ignition is off. Disconnect relay box 8-pin connector. See Figure . Check for continuity between terminals No. 3 (Yellow/Green wire) and No. 8 (White/Black wire) of relay box 8-pin connector. See Figure . If continuity exists, go to next step. If continuity does not exist, go to step 5).
- Check for continuity between terminal No. 4 (Blue wire) of relay box 8-pin connector and terminal No. 2 (Red/Black wire) of relay box 2-pin connector. If continuity does not exist, go to next step. If continuity exists, go to step 5).
- Connect jumper wire between positive battery terminal and terminal No. 3 (Yellow/Green wire) of relay box 8-pin connector. Connect a second jumper wire between negative battery terminal and terminal No. 8 (White/Black wire) of relay box 8-pin connector. See Figure . Check for continuity between terminal No. 4 (Blue wire) of relay box 8-pin connector and terminal No. 2 (Red/Black wire) of relay box 2-pin connector. If continuity does not exist, go to next step. If continuity exists, reconnect connectors and go to step 7).
- Turn ignition off. Remove relay box cover. Remove motor relay. See Figure . Check for continuity between terminals No. 1 and 4 of motor relay. Continuity should exist. See Figure . Check for continuity between terminals No. 2 and 3 of motor relay. No continuity should exist. If continuity is as specified, go to next step. If continuity is not as specified, replace relay.
- Connect jumper wire between positive battery terminal and terminal No. 1 of motor relay. Connect a second jumper wire between negative battery terminal and terminal No. 4 of motor relay. Check for continuity between relay terminals No. 2 and 3. If continuity does not exist, replace relay. If continuity exists, no fault is indicated at this time. Fault may be intermittent.
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect ABS ECM connector. ECM is located on right side of trunk, behind trim panel. Measure resistance between ABS ECM harness connector terminals No. 19 and 43. See Figure . If resistance is 50-60 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is not 50-60 ohms, repair wiring harness.
- Using a jumper wire, ground terminal No. 28 of ABS ECM connector. Turn ignition on. Measure voltage between terminals No. 27 and 42 of ABS ECM connector. See Figure . If voltage is zero volts, go to next step. If voltage is more than zero volts, repair wiring harness.
- Turn ignition off. Using 2 jumper wires, ground terminals No. 19 and 28 of ABS ECM connector. Turn ignition on. DO NOT connect jumper wires to ground for more than 2 seconds with ignition on. Check if motor pump is running. If motor pump does not run, repair wiring harness. If wiring harness is okay, check motor pump and replace as necessary. If motor pump runs, no fault is indicated at this time.
