Inspection Procedures

1. Connect a Hi-Scan (Pro) to the data link connector.
2. Turn ignition to ON position and monitor other DTCs.

Are any DTC relating to ECTS set? 

No: Go to next

Yes: Do all repairs associated with those codes before proceeding with this procedure.

1. CHECK engine coolant level. 
2. Measure the specific gravity of the coolant with a hydrometer.

• Refer to  SPECIFIC GRAVITY TEST  . 

  Is engine coolant normal? 

Yes: Go to next

No: Replace it.

1. Remove the thermostat.
2. Check if the thermostat is stuck or damaged.

Is thermostat normal? 

Yes: Go to next

No: Replace it.

1. Measure resistance of ECTS between terminals 1 and 3 of the ECTS connector.

• Refer to  SPECIFICATIONS   for more information. 

Is resistance within specification? 

Yes: Proceed with ECM PROBLEM PROCEDURE  .

No: Replace ECTS.
