DTC Information: DTC Detecting Condition

Item Detecting Condition Possible Cause
Case 1 DTC Strategy
  • Characteristic line strong shift to rich
  1. Poor connection or damaged harness
  2. Front HO2S
Enable Conditions
  • Upstream O2 sensor operative readiness is detected.
  • Downstream O2 sensor operative readiness is detected.
  • Active test is not activated.
  • Catalyst purge after fuel cut-off is not activated.
  • Engine speed is faster than 6000 RPM.
  • Mass air flow is less than 83 g/sec.
  • Exhaust gas temperature (model) is between 300°C (572°F) and 800°C (1, 472°F).
  • Stable driving condition:
    • Difference between actual RPM and filtered RPM is less than 500 RPM.
    • Difference between actual air mass and filtered air mass is less than 0.4 g/rev.
    • Difference between actual lambda and filtered lambda is less than 15%.
Threshold Value
  • Upstream lambda (rich) is lower than 0.9, downstream O2 signal (lean) is lower than 0.2V
  • When above conditions are fulfilled, mass air flow is integrated.

Malfunction is detected when the accumulated mass air flow reaches 300 g.

Diagnosis Time
  • 5 ~ 100 seconds. (depends on intake air mass)
Case 2 DTC Strategy
  • Characteristic line middle shift to lean
Enable Conditions
  • No fuel cut-off
  • No full load
  • No catalyst overheating protection
  • Battery voltage is between 11V and 16V.
Threshold Value
  • Active test symptom during shift of lambda set point to lean (after P2096 detection)
  • Lambda value is lower than 1.05 when lambda set point is 1.15.
Diagnosis Time
  • 10 seconds after lambda set point shift to corresponding side.
MIL On Condition
  • 2 Driving Cycles
