Repair Procedures: Removal

  1. Turn ignition switch OFF and disconnect the battery negative (-) terminal.
  2. Remove the engine room under cover.

    (Refer to Engine and Transaxle Assembly - "ENGINE ROOM UNDER COVER ")

  3. Remove the drive belt.

    (Refer to Engine Mechanical System - "DRIVE BELT ")

  4. Disconnect the alternator connector (A).

  5. Disconnect the alternator B-terminal cable (A) after loosening the mounting nut.

    Alternator "B" terminal tightening nut  :

    9.8 - 11.8 N.m (1.0 - 1.2 kgf.m, 7.2 - 8.7 Ib.ft)

  6. Remove the alternator mounting upper bolt (A).

    Alternator mounting upper bolt  :

    49.0 - 63.7 N.m (5.0 - 6.5 kgf.m, 36.2 - 47.0 lb.ft)

  7. Lift the vehicle.
  8. Remove the alternator mounting lower bolt (A).

    Alternator mounting lower bolt  :

    49.0 - 63.7 N.m (5.0 - 6.5 kgf.m, 36.2 - 47.0 lb.ft)

  9. Disconnect the compressor ECV connector, and then by loosening the mounting bolts, widen the gap between the compressor (A) from the engine to remove the alternator.

  10. Remove the alternator (A).
