Repair Procedures: Removal

WARNING:
  • Be sure to read and follow the "GENERAL SAFETY INFORMATION & CAUTION " before doing any work related with the high voltage system. Failure to follow the safety instructions may result in serious electrical injuries.
  • Be sure to read and follow the "HIGH VOLTAGE SHUT-OFF PROCEDURES " before doing any work related with the high voltage system. Failure to follow the safety instructions may result in serious electrical injuries.
CAUTION:
  • When the solenoid valve Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTC) is on, perform the following procedure to replace it.
  • Automatic transaxle is composed of delicate components. Be careful not to cause any damage on the component in the course of assembly and disassembly.
  • Maintain clean condition so that foreign substance does not get into the automatic transaxle.
  • Use a coated apron, latex gloves, and stainless tray to prevent foreign substance from getting into the transaxle.
  • Automatic transaxle fluid (ATF) can be reused. Collect it using a clean 10-liter beaker.
  • Be careful not to damage the parts located under the vehicle (floor under cover, fuel filter, fuel tank and canister) when raising the vehicle using the lift.

(Refer to General Information - "LIFT AND SUPPORT POINTS ")

  1. Shut off the high voltage circuit.

(Refer to Automatic Transaxle System - "REPAIR PROCEDURE ")

  2. Remove the under cover.

(Refer to Engine Mechanical System - "ENGINE ROOM UNDER COVER ")

  3. Drain the engine coolant.

(Refer to Engine Mechanical System - "COOLANT ")

  4. Drain the coolant of hybrid motor cooling system.

(Refer to Hybrid Motor System - "COOLANT ")

  5. Remove the Hybrid Power Control Unit (HPCU) assembly and tray.

(Refer to Hybrid control system - "REMOVAL ")

  6. Remove the ATF warmer.

(Refer to Automatic Transaxle Cooling System - "ATF WARMER ")

  7. Separate the air bleeder hose (A).
