Repair Procedures: Replacement
- Disconnect the battery negative cable from the battery and then wait for at least 30 seconds.
- Remove the crash pad lower panel.
(Refer to Body - "CRASH PAD LOWER PANEL ")
- Separate the upper shroud and then remove the lower shroud (A) by loosening the 3 screws.
- Remove the multifunction switch connector (A).
- Disconnect the clock spring connector.
- Disconnect the connector below images.
- Remove the wiring fixed clip (A) at the bracket and then disconnect the motor connector.
- Remove the wiring fixed clip at the steering column.
- Remove the steering column by loosening the mounting bolt (B) and nut (A).
Tightening Torque:
Nut: 25.0 - 29.4 N.m (2.5 - 3.0 kgf.m, 14.5 - 21.7 lb-ft)
Bolt: 44.1 - 49.0 N.m (4.5 - 5.0 kgf.m, 32.5 - 36.2 lb-ft)
NOTE:- Be careful not to damage the driver's seat when replacing the MDPS motor.
- Be careful not to damage the MDPS motor & ECU.
- If shock the motor, may occurs a noise caused by the bearing damage of motor inside.
- Remove the MDPS motor.
- Apply the grease at the new MDPS motor.
- Squeeze out grease as much as quantity of standard.
Type: Multi-Temp MM-V
P/N: YSBB0-91105FFF
Quantity: 0.7 - 1.2g (About 50 mm (0.1979 in))
- Apply the grease at the serration by stick or (-) driver.
- Make sure the grease and then reassembly the motor.
NOTE:- Must be applied the standard grease. If not, may occur the noise.
- Squeeze out grease as much as quantity of standard.
- Install the MDPS motor.
Tightening Torque:
14.7 - 21.6 N.m (1.5 - 2.2 kgf.m, 10.8 - 15.9 lb-ft)
NOTE:- Then installing, make sure the motor wiring direction.
- Tighten the mounting bolts slightly, and then tighten the bolt 1, 2 by the equal torque several times.
- Installation is the reverse of the removal.
- Conduct the "ASP Calibration".
(Refer to MDPS Motor - "DIAGNOSIS WITH GDS ")
- Check the DTC.NOTE:
- If continue a trouble, replace the MDPS control unit.
- Turn off the IGN switch and wait for 20 seconds or more. Then check the operation after starting the engine.
