Repair Procedures: Removal

  1. Turn the steering wheel so that the front wheels can face straight ahead.
  2. Disconnect the battery negative cable and wait for at least three minutes before beginning work.
  3. Remove the driver airbag module by putting in a flat tool (Ø5 mm) into the guide hole and then press the fixed wire.

    NOTE:
    • When put a tool into a hole, make sure not to damage an airbag cushion by a tool.
  4. Turn a steering wheel anti-clockwise, so make a guide hole (A) shown on the right side.

    Put a tool into a hole (a) and bend back a fixed DAB spring.

    Make sure to pull DAB cover when bend back the spring.

  5. Release the connector locking, then disconnect the driver airbag module connector (A) and horn connector (B).

    NOTE:
    • The removed airbag module should be stored in a clean, dry place with the pad cover facing up.
  6. Remove the steering wheel and steering wheel column shroud (A).

    (Refer to MDPS COLUMN AND HOUSING )

  7. Disconnect the clock spring and horn connector, then remove the clock spring (A).

  8. Separate the fixed hooks (3 places) and remove the clock spring.
