Airflow Meter Test

  1. Ensure there is no dust or foreign material in hot wire air passage. Fold back airflow meter harness connector boot. Turn ignition on. Connect negative lead of voltmeter to ground. Using positive lead, backprobe airflow meter No. 1 terminal on Q45, or terminal "A" on M30. See Fig 1 or Fig 2 . Voltmeter should read .2-.5 volt.

  2. Start engine and allow to warm to operating temperature. Recheck voltage reading. Voltmeter should now read approximately 1.0-1.3 volts. Faults in airflow meter circuit should set a Code 12. If Code 12 is present, refer to TESTS W/CODES article.
