Mass Airflow (MAF) Sensor

Ensure no dust or foreign material exists in hot wire air passage. Fold back MAF sensor harness connector boot. Turn ignition on. Connect negative lead of voltmeter to ground. Using positive lead, backprobe MAF sensor terminal "b". See Fig 1 . Voltmeter should read as specified. See MASS AIRFLOW SENSOR VOLTAGE SPECIFICATIONS table.

Start engine, and allow it to warm to operating temperature. Recheck voltage reading. Voltage should be as specified. See MASS AIRFLOW SENSOR VOLTAGE SPECIFICATIONS table. Faults in MAF sensor circuit should set a Code 12. If Code 12 is present, refer to TESTS W/CODES article in the ENGINE PERFORMANCE Section.
