System Operation Check

NOTE: Turning ignition switch to ACC position at any time during system operation check will cancel procedure.
  1. Close all doors, engine hood and trunk lid. Turn ignition switch to OFF position and remove key. If SECURITY light does not illuminate, go to step 3). If SECURITY light illuminates, go to next step.
  2. If SECURITY light remains illuminated continuously (does not flash), check SECURITY light circuit. See TEST 2  . If SECURITY light flashes, perform TEST 1-1 through TEST 1-4.
  3. Open each door. Check if SECURITY light flashes as door is opened. If SECURITY light flashes, go to next step. If SECURITY light does not flash,perform TEST 1-1  .
  4. Open engine hood. Check if SECURITY light flashes when hood is opened. If SECURITY light flashes, go to next step. If SECURITY light does not flash, perform TEST 1-2  .
  5. Open trunk lid. Check if SECURITY light flashes when trunk lid is opened. If SECURITY light flashes, go to next step. If SECURITY light does not flash, perform TEST 1-3  .
  6. Remove each door and trunk lid key cylinder. Check if SECURITY light flashes when key cylinder is removed. If SECURITY light flashes, go to next step. If SECURITY light does not flash, perform TEST 1-4  .
  7. Open all doors, trunk lid and engine hood. Remove all key cylinders. Check if SECURITY light flashes. If SECURITY light flashes, go to next step. If SECURITY light does not flash, check all power and ground circuits. See CIRCUIT TESTS  . Also check SECURITY light circuit. See TEST 2  .
  8. Lock doors without using key or multi-remote control (if equipped). Close all doors, engine hood and trunk lid. Reinstall all key cylinders. If SECURITY light illuminates, go to next step. If SECURITY light does not illuminate, check door unlock sensor input signal. See TEST 3  .
  9. Unlock and open any door within 30 seconds after SECURITY light illuminates. Close and lock all doors using key or multi-remote control (if equipped). If SECURITY light illuminates, go to next step. If SECURITY light does not illuminate, check door lock switch input signal. See TEST 4  .
  10. SECURITY light should turn off within 30 seconds after illuminating. If SECURITY light does not turn off, replace theft warning control unit. If SECURITY light turns off, unlock any door without using key or multi-remote control (if equipped). Open door, trunk lid or engine hood. If alarm activates (horn sounds and headlights flash), go to next step. If alarm does not activate, check alarm output signal. See TEST 5  .
  11. Turn ignition switch to START position. If engine does not start, go to next step. If engine starts, check starter output signal. See TEST 6  .
  12. Lock and unlock door(s) and/or trunk lid using key or multi-remote control (if equipped). If alarm deactivates, go to next step. If alarm does not deactivate, check door/trunk lid unlock switch input signal. See TEST 7  and see TEST 8  .
  13. Turn ignition switch to START position. If engine starts, go to next step. If engine does not start, check starter output signal. See TEST 6  .
  14. Close all doors, hood and trunk lid. Lock doors using key or multi-remote control (if equipped). After SECURITY light starts flashing in 2.4-second intervals, unlock and open any door without using key or multi-remote control (if equipped). Alarm should sound. If alarm automatically turns off after 2.5 minutes, go to next step. If alarm does not automatically turn off after 2.5 minutes, replace theft warning control unit.
  15. Turn ignition switch to START position. If engine does not start, go to next step. If engine starts, check starter output signal. See TEST 6  .
  16. Lock and unlock door(s) and/or trunk lid using key or multi-remote control (if equipped). Turn ignition switch to START position. If engine starts, system is okay. If engine does not start, check starter output signal. See TEST 6  .
