Glass Hatch Switch Check

  1. Open driver's window. Turn ignition switch to LOCK position and remove key from ignition switch. Close all doors, hood and glass hatch. SECURITY light should turn off. Open glass hatch. SECURITY light should flash in one-second intervals. If SECURITY light operates as described, glass hatch switch circuit is okay at this time. If SECURITY light does not operate as described, go to next step.
  2. Ensure ignition switch is in LOCK position. Using a voltmeter, backprobe at terminal No. 26 (Blue/White wire) at Smart Entrance Control Unit (SECU) harness connector. See Figure . When glass hatch is open, zero volts should exist. When glass hatch is closed, battery voltage should exist. If voltage is not as specified, go to next step. If voltage is as specified, glass hatch circuit is okay at this time.
  3. Disconnect glass hatch switch harness connector. Check continuity between glass hatch switch terminals. When glass hatch switch is depressed, continuity should not exist. When glass hatch switch is released, continuity should exist. If continuity is not as specified, replace glass hatch switch. If continuity is as specified, check glass hatch switch ground circuit and signal circuit for opens and/or shorts and repair as necessary. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  .
