Starter Interrupt System Check

  1. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Using a voltmeter, backprobe at terminal No. 32 (Blue/Green wire) at Smart Entrance Control Unit (SECU) harness connector. See Figure . When alarm is tripped, zero volts should exist. When alarm is not tripped, battery voltage should exist. If voltage is as specified, go to next step. If voltage is not as specified, check for the following and repair as necessary:
    • Faulty fuse No. 18 (15-amp) in instrument panel fuse box.
    • Open and/or short in Green/Red wire between instrument panel fuse box and theft warning relay. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  .
    • Open and/or short in Blue/Green wire between SECU and theft warning relay. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  .
    • Defective theft warning relay. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  .
  2. Test theft warning relay. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . If relay is okay, system is okay at this time. If relay is defective, replace theft warning relay.
